Does humanity really need social media?
- How many “views” do I need before I can feel satisfied that I am a good person?
- How many “friends” do I need to be accepted by my peers?
- Is my life really improved by spending 50% of all of my day and almost 100% of my mind focused on what is happening to other people?
- What does social media cost to the environment?
- What is family?
- Who profits from my data?
The expression on the person in the picture above, very accurately depicts the perception I get when I see our younger generation. Disconnected, empty zombies! Stand in the middle of a busy city anywhere in the world and look around:- You could be forgiven for thinking that zombies are real.
Social Media Magnate – Demonstrates Absolute Power
Social media was a very clever idea by an entrepreneur(Mark Zuckerberg) to make money. Nothing more, nothing less. Now this person has become so powerful that he controls governments and manipulates world perception. Mark Zuckerberg’s connection to the World Economic Forum (WEF) should give you an idea that he does not have the interests of Facebook user’s at his heart.
His power and wealth has the ability to sanitise any content written about him and condemn any content which shows him in a bad light. He has shown contempt to those that want to hold him to account for actions, done under his direction by Facebook. He is now effectively immune to prosecution, as he can always pay for better lawyers than those that seek to hold him account.
The Social Dilemma (Documentary)
Watch The Social Dilemma, created by Netflix. It says it all. Like all addictions, we have the power to switch off and become human again.
The Need For Social Media
There is no doubt that there are people who can benefit from the connection opportunities, that would not otherwise be available person-to-person, without such a tool. Unfortunately, the manipulation of reality presented by current social media platforms, no longer make this these the right tools for the job.
If social media was made available without the filters, advertisements and profiling, then perhaps, we would not see so many disconnected people, in the world.
Humans do not need “social media” to be social. The majority of the people who use social media would benefit more by, experiencing living in the real world, meeting new people, in addition to spending more time with family and friends. Doing this will enable them to build new stronger “connections” than what is offered by the empty “like/follow” offered by social media.
Parents Need To Take Back Responsibility To Parent
Parents have the responsibility to show their children that there is actual life in the outside world and that the anticipation of waiting to talk to a friend is usually more powerful that having instant access via social media.
